SBK in budget bin compilation

Well, looks like hope for the EA Superbike Voodoo3 patch is down the
drain...

I just saw Superbike as part of a budget compilation including Road
Rash(!) and MotoRacer2.  "Didn't sell well, then don't support it."  EA
- you never change!  Great way to "build a franchise"...

Superbike 2000?  Not ***y likely!  Bring on GP500! (bout time
Microprose got back in racing sims big-time).

Happy Racing!

So they should make a followup to a game that hasn't sold a large enough
number of units? What world are you living in? Much as I love playing sims
you can't blame a company for not following up on something that hasn't
sold. Game are not cheap to produce these days and throwing more money away
isn't likely to make companies likely to succeed and make more games is it?

In any case, Superbike suffered because of it's switch from VIE to EA when
VIE went all wobbly for a while. If VIE had carried on with it I'm sure it
would have done better than it did.

Other than F1GP and GP2 what other racing sims have they produced in the
1990's?

Oh... and GPM does NOT count.

is it?

Sorry - just venting my frustration ;).  Actually I was paraphrasing an
EA company rep who said they had great hopes for the franchise in the
future (i.e. Superbike 2000).  From what I've read of other EA
Sports games, there seems to be alot of "fix it in the next version"
mentality that's spreading among the games industry.  Guess I'm just
spoiled by Papy - GPL didn't sell like hotcakes either, and look what
everyone's saying about the 1.1 patch.
Is the company that developed SBK still around?  I really think they did
a great job with the title, and would have loved to see them back it up
a little, as well.

Didn't know that - damn shame, too...

My point exactly ;)...  Aren't you anxiously looking forward to GP3 and
GP500?  I still fire up GP2 and enjoy it now and again.  Now that I've
I've got a 500Mhz machine I can get decent framerates ;).

I also was peeved when sbk decided to put it in the complimation, and when
its with those 100% arcade games, it really got me.  I think sbk is a great
game.  One reason I think this happened, bike racing is no where near as
popular as auto racing.  Which is unfortunate since I am one of those who
prefer to watch moto compared to auto.  I never miss SBK and GP500 now.
CART is on and off, Nascar is once in a while and F1, which I still love,
is when ever I can wake up in time.  Coming out soon is AMA Superbike.  I
wish them good luck in the small world of bike racing sims.  Any one got
numbers on how much Castrol-Honda World Champions by Intense Games sold?
I'm just wondering cause maybe it isnt just SBK that had bad numbers.  Any
way, I hope GP500 is gonna good.  One thing I wish they added in to GP500,
the 125cc and 250cc classes.  I'd have really love to riden on Loris'
bike.  Oh well, Crivle will have to do.  Later.

I'd also love to see another version of this game.  By the same creators.
For a first shot this is just great.  The "fix it next time around"
mentality is very true with EA Sports.  Some times it gets totaly re-done
tho.  Since they are pushing the limits of the current PC's, I have yet to
hear of any one running this game at full capacticy with out a glitch, they
cant do much but just touch it up.  I have no clue if Milestone SRL is still
around.  I can't find any info when I search for the company.  All I know
its based out of Europe, Italy I think.

More or less the question is what other bike sims have they ever produced.
Bike racing and auto racing is 2 totaly different things with the physics
and all that.  But it is true that Milestone\VIE had no previous attempts at
bike racing, of what I know, either.  And as I pointed out in an earlier
message I just wished that in GP500 they decided to put in the 125 and 250
cc classes as whell.  Would have loved to ride Loris' bike.  Crivle will
have to do.  And as posted earlier, if you havn't noticed bike racing sims
just don't sell the greatest right now.  Bike racing has a very slim croud,
compared to like f1 or something.  I'd like to know the number of sales on
Castrol-Honda by intense games, and see if it was just SBK that bombed or
its just bike sims in general that don't sell.  Last notes, SBK is the best
bike game to date there is no doubt on that.  Damn those GP500 screens look
impressive.  And good luck to both microprose and motorsims.com(AMA
Superbikes) with their new bike sims.  It seams as you will need it.

Hello

I think if these motorcycle sims added the ability to league race ala ICR2, N2,
N99 etc. their sales would boom.  That would get my dollar.  I'd love to race
in a SBK-type league, and I'm sure I'm not alone.  Just my 2 cents....

The box said "Windows 95 or better", so I installed LINUX!
