Ok, on  a whim I downloaded the demo of Bugbear's arcade racer FlatOut.

My goodness, it's amazing :)

This is probably I won't complain about there not being an in-car (cockpit)
view.   Because if there was you would miss all the WONDERFULL shredding of
parts, amazing damage visualations, fires, etc...

This thing really is graphically amazing.

For an arcade game, the physics are also quite amazing.

I about laughed out of my chair when I hit a pile of logs and flew out
through the windshied, went tumbling along the ground, and stopped.  The
final touch was the left leg twitching ever so slightly.

Thank goodness there is a rest button :)

This is really entertaining :)

Just check your brain at the door!

These guys REALLY should do a Nascar Sim.  They have programming talent.

All good stuff but when you've played the full game for a few hours you will
see glaring flaws.
A complete lack of original tracks. It's virtually the same 3 or 4 mirrored
and reversed.
The sub games are useless, apart from the high jump which is fun for a few
minutes.
Upgrades that can actually degrade your car ! Maybe that's intentional, but
it seems a bit weird.
Incredibly short lived but a lot of fun for that short time.

Yeah that was much more fun than NSR.  Especially the stadium where you have
to shoot the driver as high as possible with the nitro :))))))  Hopefully
they'll find a nice niche in selling their game engine/physics to other
developpers.  I don't see them doing a "sim", they should stay making great
arcade games.  Chase stuff a la Mafia/Burnout/GTA.  There's potential there
for the interractivity Bugbear has compared to their competitors.

Most fun I've had with a computer game in years.
Flatout is an absolute blast !

Just too bad the mutiplayer sucks and has no chat.
Other than that...Flatout is an amazing piece of work.

The physics remind me a little of the original Driver release.  Though there
was no in-car there either, the physics were dead-on as to how an early
muscle car handled, wobble and all :)

I owned, and still do own a '69 Roadrunner, 440 4 speed, it's NEVER
"wobbled".

No... They tend to do alot of shakin' and rattlin' and creakin' - And
they go straight alot nicer than they corner - At least that's how my
'69 383 was...  But I guess it didn't really "wobble".
