I was curious... the GT2 intro video that I downloaded from the web has all
sorts of 1960s GP cars and drivers.  One would think it was an advert for
GPL.  Why did Sony put all the old F1 iron in the video when it has nothing
to do with the game?

Gee, you give people the chance to drive an 800HP minivan, and what do
they do but complain, complain, complain about what's *not* there.
8-)

Actually, I would prefer to see none of the old F1 stuff in the video.  GT2
fills a niche very different than GPL (thank goodness) and so there is no
need for the F1 footage in the video.  I would love to see actual footage of
some of the sports cars in the game, like the old Shelby Mustang, the
assorted Loti etc., instead of the F1, but I guess it's flashier to have
some "names" in the video.

A Japanese resident pointed us lowly r.a.sony.playstation dwellers to
the following:

Linkname: [LINK] The All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship League
        URL: http://gtc.infosim.co.jp/gtc_team/1999team/team_idx.htm

A lot of GT2 is surprisingly closely based on this, even down to the
names "GT300" and "GT500", not to mention the car names and liveries.
Perhaps the Japanese consider this the logical evolutionary step
*after* Formula 1.  8-)

Oh, okay, perhaps not...

Adrian.
