Where (in the UK) can I buy a wheel

by Stewar » Tue, 10 Aug 1999 04:00:00

I have just returned my Saitek R4 (NF) wheel to PC World after 4 months of
***performance.  The very kind people there gave me a full refund with no
questions asked, which was nice.
I am now looking to buy a Logitech Formula Force Wheel either over the
internet or via mail order.  Does anyone have any experience, good or bad,
in buying a wheel this way? Can you recommend any companies?
I read a couple of posts a few days ago quoting prices but was a little bit
unsure about using a company I had never heard of before.

Hope you can help.

I just purchased a Logitech Wingman Force wheel from www.provantage.com It
was $103 American dollars and with tax via UPS ground $125.  I ordered it on
a Tues morning at 9:30, at 3:00pm the next day it was in my hands.  They
keep you updated at there website at all times of the progress of your
order.  Highly recommend.

How did you manage to buy the Wheel from US without paying out heaps of money
for shipping? I checked what it would cost to send a Logitech FF from US to
Norway via UPS, and I was given the awsome price of USD 159.50!!! 60 USD more
than the wheel costs (100 USD)!

You wouldn't believe how much this wheel costs here in Norway - USD285!!!!

Jeeeze!

Well I bought a TSW for 220 and had to pay another $200 for shipping to
the UK - but it was still worth it!

I've ordered stuff before from them OK.

116.33 inc vat - I don't think they have them in stock at the moment
though.

The Saitek R4 sucks doesnt it! I went through 3 before getting my money
back.

I just got my hands on the MSFF wheel from GAME. I saw a Logitech FF wheel
there for about 90 or something. Quite tempted by it but the pedal were a
bit ***& toy like. Anyone else noticed that finding a good wheel & good
set of pedals together is nigh on impossible  (except if you spend
squillions on a TSW & overseas shipping). The MSFF wheel was 99.99 by the
way and I've had no problems at all. Setting the pedals up in split axis is
a doddle as well.

I think GAME are all over the UK, there certainly are everywhere up here in
Scotland.

You, my friend, have a very strange definition of everywhere up here.
There are six stores in Scotland, Glasgow, Livingston, East Kilbride,
Dundee, and 2 in Edinburgh. Hardly a major chain up here (unless you
take into account it's owned by EB).

The one I couldn't understand is why they closed the one in Aberdeen
down a couple or three years ago.
