Indianapolis 500 by EA?

Indianapolis 500 by EA?

At work today we got a box of old software titles in, and in digging
through them I saw Indianapolis 500.  I figured it was the first Papyrus
title that I've heard so much about, but when I looked closer, I saw that
it was made my Entertainment Arts.  If this isn't it, what was the first
Papyrus game?

I think it was an "Electronic Arts" release, but was coded by the
Papyrus Group.  If this is the one that says Indianapolis 500 the
Simulation, this should be Papyrus Group's first race sim.

Hi Brian,

Are you sure it's Entertainment Arts?  If it's Electronic Arts, then yes
it is the original Papyrus game (I've got a copy that was released in
the U.K., that says 'By Papyrus Design Group' in small vertical text on
the front of the box, but the U.S. packaging might be different).

It's a nice little game (when it was released it was pretty
revolutionary), though unfortunately it's only in EGA, and it's a little
bit limited.  It's still worth wheeling out an old Lola-Buick and having
a bash occasionally, though!

I'd say you glanced, rather than looked at the box. Sure enough, it says
Papyrus Design Group, just a tad smaller than Electronic Arts (although
EA's logo is slightly larger). If you were to actually look at the
credits, you'll see most of the key Papy names and the software
copyright of Papyrus.

Now if you could only get it to run!! That is, you have to find a machine
SLOW enough for it. Even 386's required a patch for the sound due to the
higher processing speed...

...Oh, so you were WORKING, that explains everything!! ;)

A good find none the less. Although if you were to find a box or two of
the Indy pack for ICR1, now THAT would be quite the haul. They'd fetch a
wonderful price due to the ICR2 and NCR track converters...
