GPL crooked braking and off center steering?

by Jaso » Fri, 27 Nov 1998 04:00:00

First, the braking problem which I'm guessing is either a setup problem, a
car related problem or the track's fault because the results are different
with different cars at different tracks.
What happens is when I come into a corner and try to apply full brakes,
without locking them up, the car suddenly veers wildly to the left. It's
most apparent with the Murumasa(I know, don't laugh).
Can anyone tell me if this is normal? I've changed the setups to be
identical on both sides. I've noticed it happen at Watkins Glen before the
second to last right hander. It puts me right into the railing.
And with all cars, going down a straight away, the cars tracks slightly to
the left or right, depending on the car. Is this solely a calibration
problem, or could it be a setup problem as well?? If so, what should I
change to fix it?

Thanks for any help.

Try both joystick modes. On my computer the generic input is better than the
direct.
Calibrate every time you start the game. If after starting the game you are
drifting
to one side it is a wheel/ calibration problem. If it pulls to one side
after a crash this
is due to damange even if you have "no damage" selected.

Check your ride hight/ bump stops. I had a terrible time with the Ferrari
default
settings. Turns out I had lowered the car too much and was hitting one of
the
bump stops and it would jerk the car sideways. If raising the car helps,
consider
running it higher or increase spring rates.

You should try to balance your car more.

But also you could try to:
1. correct your car with applying/releasing throttle
2. brake very (i mean veeeerrrryyy) soft

If NOTHING helps it's simply a joystick problem :-)
