When I go to actually race my screen goes black and the PC freezes, I have
posted this on some forums and others have reported the problem yet heard of
no fix yet.

P3 1ghz Creative Geforce 2 GTS 32mb
256mb RAM Direct x 8.1 Win98se

PS. Occasionally the game plays and I have tried it at a variety of
resolutions

Had same problem, I had to reinstall the game with all background
applications removed.
