Thanks guys!  Although I shouldn't probably mention the word "RSC" :) ,
there is some great info on their "Build Your Own***pit ..." forum.
Some of the people that post there are fabricating great looking pedal
and shifter parts out of metal (like on computer controlled grinding
machines).  I'm jealous, but at least I was inspired to do what I could.
