I've been looking for a local shop to build me a new computer but they just
can't compete price wise with the web vendors. Any feedback on either of these?

Or..any other suggested U.S.sites?
Thanks,

newegg.com  Best there is imo in terms of price, help, and any problems you
may incur (bad hardware).  They also ship really fast, and often free.

Does newegg sell configured systems?? That's where I bought my last vid card
but don't see any "complete" systems on the site. Meaning fully prebuilt of
course.

Let me know if the post at 10:15 showed up. I think I refreshed as it was
sending and it may not be showing up on my end.

Thanks

hmmm, that I'm not sure of.  They have some of those Barebones where you add
a few pieces to get it the way you want.  Building a system is a matter of
plugging stuff in and firing it up.  Everything is color coded and well
documented.  If you can forgo some of the junk software that comes
pre-installed, your much better off going this route.  And if you're not,
you may know someone close by who can do it for you, or even someone on here
may live close to you willing to help out.

The problem with pre-built systems is if you want a system geared towards
***, you pay dearly for it, whereas you can buy it in pieces and custom
tune it better than almost anything out there, and save a bundle.  But if
money is no issue, then you may look into one of these companies:  Alienware
Direct, Falcon Northwest, and Voodoo Computers.  They beef up the systems in
areas that need it the most for *** (video, memory, storage) yet still
use top quality parts everywhere else; sometimes overkill even for ***.

Building systems is fun, it's a great learning experience, and the
satisfaction (especially the first system) you get afterwards is great.
This also helps you make better choices for upgrading later on down the
road.  When people first get systems, then later buy a 2nd or 3rd one, they
realize what a bad choice they made and understand how to buy better systems
later on.  Things aren't near as bad now as they used to be in terms of
equipment changing so quickly so it's easier to build something with future
upgrades in mind.

PS  You install that video card?       Then you can build a whole system.
:)  It's really that easy.  Just ask questions on what is good these days
and you will get all teh responses you need.  You could even do a search and
find a few threads on here covering this topic.

upgrades in mind.

Thanks for the reply TD. Yeah I've installed a couple of video
cards..modems..etc but never have started from scratch. If I had a guru watchin
me I wouldn't have a problem giving it a shot but all I can see is me and a
pile of parts and a bunch of empty bottles scattered around. One vendor has a
P4 2.8 with Asus P4P800 mb HT 512meg ram 80 gig hd, dvd, cd, flopy, audigy sb
live, ATI 9200 etc for about 850.00 US delivered. Bad?? Thanks for the
encouragement..I just wish I had as much faith :)
