I just had an idea which might increase the realism in GPL in a fun way: an
interactive fan, to be placed on top of your monitor, and aimed at your
head. The fan should interact with GPL, so that it will blow harder as you
gain speed. Am I the first to think of this? (I reckon I'm not, even though
the idea seems completely silly...)

Worse still, it's been commercially marketed in the UK. I guess it flopped
because I've seen no units making it over here.

On TEN there was a guy who suited up in full "uniform" in his racing
seat with a 6-point harness, he had an industrial size heater/blower to
simulate the temps inside a stockcar***pit (or at least he claimed to
do so and posted pics of it)......... naa, you're not silly at all

I wonder if that heater/blower was Y2K ready......the regulars will now
know who I'm referring too :-)))

To make it complete, you need to put a bird in a cage above your head with a
bottom made of wire with holes in it.  That will simulate the birds crapping
on your head as you drive (I suggest using a helmet)

And don't forget the automatic bug-flinger, for your teeth. . .

Again, I recommend the use of a helmet (with a face shield)  :)

Ideally, the bird should be placed above and just in front of the fan. This
way the ***will fall in front of the fan, and it'll actually be blown in
your face! Much more realistic that way. And I'll go you one better: a
bird-carousel, accommodating a number of birds, to spin randomly above the
fan. This will provide you with a whole range of different types of
bird-crap!

On a more sober note, too much centrifugal force might shoot one of those
birds into your face.  See Stacey, circa . . .  1962 (?).

Heaven help us if there is an 80's version in the future. The thought of
having a deer land on me at the O Ring makes me shudder!
