Are there any good ovals for GPL that have good AI and are not
converted tracks?

To be completely serious, there was one with decent hi-res textures
but for the life of me I can't remember the name.  I believe it was
flat and ran clockwise?

By my definition there are no "GOOD" ovals ;-)

Surely the CART brigade must have some suggestions?

Waterloo is really good: a 2+ mile trioval with the tri part on the backstretch.

Except the AI stinks.  I saw 7 or 8 barrel rolls during a race there.
And the Lotus boys kept crashing every 5 laps... so it was easy to
lead.

BTW I am very impressed with Laustizring <sp> in Germany.  Well worth
the download.

Ovals for GPL?

I'm curious to see responses to this thread also. With ICRII/CPR the
ovals were a good place to practice dealing with traffic: it was always
there. Is GPL not suited to ovals? The lack of aero and its adjustments
makes ovals very different from other sims; and as you hint, I don't
think anyone has ever tweeked the AI for ovals.

It's for the converted ovals but there are tweaked AI files from Sabre Team

Caveat - just dl'ed 'em and tried a couple of tracks.  The AI still seem to
crash all over the place for no apparent reason.  The front few AI drivers
at Michigan were doing pretty well, running quickly, drafting each other and
passing back and forth - until they hit some slow lappers; then they
completely lost it.  Oh well....

Thanks for passing on your recent experience. I guess there's not enough
interest for someone with the knowledge, skills and time to re-program
the AI.
