I'm one of those guys willing to give Ed Martin and EA a second (third)
chance. I may have to much optimism.;)

I found it pretty boring to be honest. Most of the random quests are
of the 'get an object and bring it back' type. Prepare for a LOT of
long, boring walks. Or use a bee to fly on, but that's just as boring
:)

Thanks.

Agreed.  It's kind of like a crappy version of Hexen II (which was pretty
good)

My son rented it (a good way to sample games).  To paraphrase, he sez it's a
nice place to pass thru, but he wouldn't wanna play there.

Well I'm going to disagree with everyone here and say it is an
absolutely awesome game IF you are into deep RPG's.  The plot has a lot
of neat twists, there are numerous conflicting factions and much
intrigue, and hundreds of hours of gameplay.  But you really have to be
into that sort of thing to enjoy it.  If you are the type who thinks
Diablo 2 is an RPG, forget it.  Oh, and btw it's no GPL.  ;o)

I'll say it's a dumbed down RPG (but positively boosted in other parts of
it's game) version of "The Elder Scrolls : Redguard", their 3dfx-only game
that I tested back then.  The game engine seems the same or at least feels
the same, especially the whole "venture yourself on the entire island"
thingy.  That makes it also very complicated in a good way for different
character interaction between each other.

Not that it's a bad game, it's just too much RGP for people who want action,
and too much action for those who *** players wanted a serious RPG :)

I'd definitely agree here.  Haven't got far into it but so far its
great.

[snip]

Oh yes it is, in that its pretty damn unlikely you'll see the other
side of 36FPS, no matter awesome your PC is ;).

Yeah, I'll never see 36 fps either, the frame rate on the Xbox version
never seems to dip that low.  ;o)

I agree with Frankie to an extent. If you're looking for an action game
forget it, but as an openended pretty free structure RPG, Morrowind is very
good. I found it pretty difficult to get into, but perseverance works and
you get really hooked after a while.
In the UK, most of the mags rate it as the best RPG out there!

The trick is you have to really role play to get the most out of
Morrowind.  If you want the game to be enjoyable and don't want to get
bogged down by the depth, then you have to NOT try to max out your
stats, NOT try to talk to every single NPC, and NOT try to go on every
single side quest.  If you play your character according to his/her
skills, only talk to NPC's that it would be logical for your character
to talk to, and only go on quests that make sense for your character,
you will not get lost in the complexity of the game.  In short, just
live your character and do what is logical for the character to do.  You
don't even need to worry about story advancement, the main quest will
find you, one way or another.  The complexity is not there to confuse
you, the complexity is there so that every character can play an
essentially different game.  It's really a beatiful thing once you
understand how it was meant to work.
