"Drivers, Start Your........"

Hi all, when N4 came out about a year ago the only thing I didn't like was
the annoying sound of "Gentlemen, Start Your Engines".......and now, with
N2002  demo we get the same annoying sound, but with "Drivers, Start Your
Engines". In N4 I was advised to add a blank .wav file named gsye.wav to the
Sounds/sppc folder to remove the sound, and it worked great......tried the
same trick in the demo, with no luck so far, it's the only little nit I've
got to pick with the demo, otherwise I think it rocks, but the sound quality
of that little bit makes me nuts, and I hear it quite often after resetting
races I've crashed out of, so, .........any ideas?  TIA, Ed

Hi,
Just a guess, but how about trying dsye.wav instead of gyse.wav?

Good guess, but no dice; just tried that.  I'd be interested in a solution to this one, too - having to listen to that announcer
over and over is highly annoying.

Don't know a***, but what happens if you remove the file altogether?

Move it up out of SPCC folder into the main SOUND folder.

Thanks Eric, but that didn't do it either.  I tried a blank wav file, named either gsye.wav or dsye.wav in both the SOUND/SPCC and
main SOUND folders.  None of the four combo's made any difference; still get "Drivers, start your engines!" upon entering a race.
Wouldn't mind it so much if I could just turn it down!

I got the same results as Steve, is there a specific file type or attribute
needed?

Ed...I really recommend the N4 soundpack at the pits put together by Chad
Sparks.  The car sounds great and the "Gentlemen, start....." sound file is much
improved.  I've enjoyed the sounds from that soundpack for sometime now.  Just a
suggestion.....

The wav file is called gseye.wav in N4 and needs to reside in the spcc folder.  I believe you just
have the wav file incorrectly named, yours was missing the 1st "e" I beleive.
