I installed jf carset last night. I was really pleased to have made a
previous backup copy because GPL could not load any track after that.

May be the problem comes from I am running a french version of GPL ?

my computer :
Celeron 400, 64Mb
Voodoo 3

Any idea ?

If I remember correctly, you need to install his update to clean original
directory of cars. So in each directory under /car/cars67/ there should only
be a *.dat file, for example /cars/cars67/Ferrari/ferrari.dat for The Red
Beast. So I suggest (if u allready made a backup) you delete all files from
cars directories leaving just .dat files. Then reinstall jf carset and it
should work perfectly. I really like his carset also. There is a better
Cooper available at Volker's site- it is abolutely best looking car I ever
saw in GPL ! Get it here http://www.t-thierolf.de/gpl/index1.htm  click on
Vatican Pits, Cooper and there u go.

Hope it helps, and remember no matter how beautifull cars are... try to look
ahead when racing :)
