 From www.simbin.com

Henrik Roos is now the President of a newly formed joint company called
SBDT AB. The new company is based in Sweden, and together we are working
to secure the appropriate licensing and funding to allow the team to
work full-time on a new sim of unprecedented depth and attention to
detail. Work is already surging forward in anticipation, and with real
funding our previous limitations are a thing of the past. If you loved
the work we did gratis, imagine the possibilities with a real budget!
Our work will definitely reflect this in all facets of development.

Graphics - Already we have at various stages of production what we feel
are some of the most accurate and detailed models ever to run in a game
engine. No***or bolt is forgotten. For tracks we are implementing
such things as variable camber across the track surface, along with some
new never-before-seen technologies.

Physics - Our total access to engine source code and direct partnerships
and associations with real FIA GT teams gives us all the hard numbers
and details needed to create a sim of unsurpassed driving realism.
Additionally, we will have the ultimate simulation testing team.

Sounds - Recorded directly from the cars we are modelling - on track,
from the***pit, exhaust, engine bay and dyno in conjunction with our
new professional DAT recording equipment and pit access at the racing
weekends - these high detail samples will be implemented by our sound
director with a PhD in musicology.

Programming - Our programming team are hard at work on an intricate
career system, rewarding driving success with opportunities to move up
to more powerful cars and prestigious series. We will involve sim racers
in an enthralling and stimulating ongoing racing system that is dynamic
in every sense of the word.

Our overriding aim is to provide for the section of the market that has
seen declining attention from other developers as the focus has shifted
to consoles. We know what this community wants and we will provide it in
abundance. It's what we owe to a family that has stood behind us from
the beginning, who have helped us achieve ever greater goals, and we
will still be the same accessible group of guys you have come to know.

The vague, detail-lacking press release announcing they're going into
business, if you will.  The SBDT forums have some ardent fanboys all
cranked up because they'll have to *gasp* pay for future SBDT releases.

Reading between the lines, it appears they intend to license the ISI
engine, procure proper team/manufacturer/track licensing, and release
GTR2003 as a boxed, commercial release.

I say more power to them for pursuing making a business out of their
dedicated hobby. :-)

Some people believe everything should be free these days, I'm quite
prepared to pay for quality products, be it shareware or commercial
stuff, if they can pull it off, good for them

Agreed. These guys have done more for sim racing in the last year than most
of the "Big" companies have. I can't wait to see what they'd do with a
proper budget.

I will buy 2 copies of whatever they come up with if it's half as good as
GTR2002.
