Sierra's Driver's Ed?

Sierra's Driver's Ed?

Any opinions on this title?  It claims to teach novice drivers how to drive a
real car.  I have very little driving experience, a learner's permit, and a
mild eye problem.  I was wondering if this program would be any good in letting
me know wheather I have what it takes to be a driver, or is it just smoke and
mirrors?

Well,  just don't be surprised if it doesn't make its estimated release
date.

I haven't purchased it, but have seen it on the store shelves at my
local Media Play (Rockford, Illinois)

It is an educational title, not a game. The point of the program is to help
people learn to drive.

What do you expect?

Hey, Sherlock. What is your problem?

This title was released to manufacture on Halloween and
was in stores around Thanksgiving. Due to packing/shipping
problems it didn't make it into all stores before that weekend
as planned. Some stores may have already sold out due to
Christmas.

It supports 3Dfx cards and force feedback, it was on time, and
comes from Sierra/Dynamix.

Deal with it.

I want to try this program out.  I'm not a good driver (heh) and was
wondering if I'd 'pass' their tests.  Oh and the box reminds me of a program
Ford Motor Company put out a couple of years ago--a cheezy driving simulator
which they pasted pictures of their new car lines on it and claimed you
could drive the new Ford Line.  I want to say this was for the 1996 line,
but it might have been the 1995 line--it was a while ago.

I have it.  It's definatley an educational program, not a game.
However, it can be a blast to drive 80mph through crowded city streets
and red lights.

Driver's Ed is a great idea and is very slick in may respects, but
it seems to be severely flawed.  It will probably cause you more
frustration than it's worth.  One bug is that it reprimands you for
running a red light when the light turns yellow as you pass through
an intersection.  It also subtracts points from your driving score
when you don't use your mirrors the way they like you to.  It
is apparently not enough to look in the mirror right before you
make a lane change- maybe they expect you to be looking in the mirror at the
exact time that the move is made.  Maybe the biggest problem with the program
is that it is almost impossible to drive, even with a steering wheel/pedal
control system, because you have to be fiddling with the keyboard for turn
signal use, etc.  I'm not sure whether they'll ever be able to get the program
usable.

How can they tell when you are looking in the mirror?  Don't tell me
you're expected to press a button/key to bring up the mirror?!  I was
hoping to pick this up at some point and drive like a maniac on city
streets--goin' for the pole, you know?
