I'm considering buying a new add-on wheel and I was wondering which
one people recommended and what, approximate, UK prices I could expect
to pay?

Currently I have and F1 Sim compact which I'm not happy with for
various reasons:
  1)  The pedals aren't very rugged (plastic snaps occasionally)
  2)  Pedals don't have much "travel" only a couple of cm from no
brakes to full brakes makes it hard to judge part braking
  3)  Wheel slightly jittery
  4)  Single-axis brake and accelerator.

  On the other hand:
  1) They have an excellent replacement policy - replacing broken bits
promptly and free.
  2) Paddle shift (on wheel) is really convenient.  Much better than
stick shift IMHO
  3) Looks pretty nice and mounts under monitor which is convenient for
my set up.

So what would people recommend.  My ideal wheel has, in order of
importance:

  1) Rugged construction
  2) Lots of travel in accel and brake so I can be more precise when
braking and "part accelerating".
  3) Not too pricey
  4) Paddle shifts
  5) Split axis brake and accelerate.

  What do people recommend.

Hey Richard !

I use the Trustmaster Formula 1 and really loves it great value for money.
Separat axis and i good "feel" in both pedals and wheel.
I use it in GPL and its great. I think its too early to go for force
feedback at
this stage , not good enough at this stage.
Superb service from Trustmaster when parts are needed.

I had a F1 Sim compact & I upgraded to the F1 Sim which mainly has a better
metal pedal box which has split axis and a leather wheel. The main colunm is
the same and the gear changes etc. but for me it works fine in GPL & Toca
but I have a problem setting it up for Colin Mcrae rally the menu screens
just keep rolling.
