Well, I had the unfortunate experience of getting my hands on the new
"Dick Johnson's V-8 Challenge" which is supposed to simulate the
Australian V-8 racing series.

Here is what the game makers *hype* is and here I will dissect it:

Did I ever...

Oh no.. The battle does not come alive.. if it came alive then when
you smacked your car head on into another car, the car you hit would
not keep going its merry way like a nat bit its ass. Neither would I.
It's more like.. The battle looks like it might be alive..

Yes, For 1990
Can You guys say *cartoony*?

And what the hell does that mean? precis racing dynamics? You mean,
turn left, the car goes left? Well, ok I'll give them that.. sort of.

Lets just hope these guys never make sex toys and try to use that
above crap.
I did NOT feel like I was driving a car. I felt like I was saying Mush
Mush do a dog sled team...

Well, 12, with 2 cars on each team. Of course "team" means nothing in
this game.
And about the cars.. No detail.. They made a very very simple 3d body
and tried to dress it up with a big fat texture map.

And they should have added:

... that takes you to Warner Brothers Cartoon Land in a fake
reproduction of what it would feel like to drive in LSD world.
I mean really folks, It looked like I was driving around in some ones
vomit.

WHERE???
You mean 20 polygons per car is what you guys call HIGH?
The ONLY freaking 3d objects in the game are the very simple cars and
the actual track.
The trees, landscape, buildings, and every thing else are simple
cardboard cut-outs with texture mapping.

... Oh yeah baby.. Watch the car go through the turn from the left..
then as it enters the next turn watch it go through that turn from the
right..I am guessing since that makes two camera angles there calling
the multiple.
Of course, the only WAY to see these "multiple" camera angles is while
your driving because there is no replay at all. Not even immediately
after the race.

Network play? Who ya gonna find to play it with you?
The "several different play modes are (yawn) time trail, quick race,
and championship.. ohh.boy.. Call the CIA.. how did they manage to do
that?
Oh, and forget about setting up your car.. Aint gonna happen. No car
set-ups what so ever.
No voices, no commentary.. no damn communication at all!

With the "I'm-in-a-row-boat-and-not-a-car" "physics" model of these
cars who the hell would want force feedback?

You want to know the BEST thing about this "product" is(I'm not even
calling it a game, because at least a game you can play once or
twice.. I took this sucker off after 1 try)? The best thing is the
opening movie. So if you want to plunk down your hard earned cash for
a nice intro movie, you go right ahead.

At least the shop let my change mine for Interstate82....

I E-mailed TORUS to ask them if they actually looked at the current crop of
Racing games on the market and whether they bothered to test the pile of
***on anyone prior to releasing it........ Been a week now, funnily
enough, no answer.

Looks like a rush job to get the Christmas market, although with the work
required to fix it, Christmas 2010 would be more like it.
