GP1+pedals?

GP1+pedals?

by Kathy Worceste » Wed, 10 Jun 1998 04:00:00

I have noticed that some people refer to using the TM GP1
wheel in conjunction with the CH flight pedals.  Does this
combination usually allow the use of the GP1 paddles for
anything (shifting)?  I would like to use the GP1 paddles as
shifters and still keep a pedal set for gas and brake.  Right now
I have plugged in my GP1 wheel into my TM T2 pedals;
the paddles seem to be disabled, no matter what I try to set the
controller up as, although the gas and brake work properly.
I don't want to buy a set of CH pedals if I  don't have to.

Would a game card, with the wheel and pedals plugged in
as separate joysticks, work?

Any help anyone might be able to provide would be greatly
appreciated!

The GP1 + CH Pedal combination works in F1RS, where you can use the
paddles for gear shifts.
I know that it doesn't work in GP2 though.

I don't know about N2, CPR etc

Andrew

HIYA KATHY,
What I think that I would do is order a TSW2 from Thomas Enterprises and
add the wiring harness and button kits, you will have a controller that you
have a life time warranty on, and it,s built like a TANK. It is so smooth
that is like driving you car for real. You can go to their web page for
prices it is  http://soli.inav.net/~thomas/    by the time you have worn out
10 other wheels and peddles the TSW2 will still be giving you great service,
I don,t work for them, I am the proud owner of one and I LOVE IT.

Yeah, paddles work in N2, ICR2, and more than likely GPL.  Not sure in CPR.

One thing, if you use this combo, do a custom configuration in Windows
Joystick panel, if you select any of the ones for TM stuff you either don't
get the pedals or don't get the paddles, I think just use 4-axis, steering
wheel, you're GP1 will be on on joystick's x and y axes, the Ch Pedals on
another, and F1RS and good windows games will allow you to use these for
whatever you want, plus the two buttons on wheel and 2 on base.

Doesn't work in the GPL demo, but (hopefully) will in the released
product...
Didn't work in the CPR demo (didn't try the release version, guess
why?),
shifting gears is hard coded to buttons, and it's using only 1
joystick/2 axis.

You should switch the CH Pedals to car mode (x- and y-axis), only then
are you using 4 axis in total.

CPR.

I use it, as well, but as the clutch. Since the paddles are axis, not
buttons, GPL don't make the paddles work for shifting.  But put the shifter
with the red buttons and make the paddle axis for a clutch.

Neither MTM or MTM2.  It looks like Microsoft game HAS to have a Dual switch
button (on/off) for shifting, not an axis like the paddles.

Yep, the CH pedals won't work with any Microsoft title, that's why I won't
buy any of them anymore without an option for 2 joystick axes.  It would be
SOOO easy. Just a box where you can say "Put gas on Joy2/axis1 instead of
Joy1/axis1".  (Joy2/axis2 for brake).
