Nascar 2 "Multi-Player Option"

by Steven » Sun, 23 May 1999 04:00:00

I have Sierra's "Nascar2" and I would like to play the "Multi-player" option
with a friend of mine.  Can anyone tell me "Exactly" how this is done?  I would
prefer the answer from someone that has actually played "Multiplayer" not just
someone that thinks they know how it works!

                                   Thanks in Advance

I have played modem-modem multiplay dozens of times with my
racin buddy. Is that what you want to know about, or do you want
to do online league racing with many people or something?

I understand that to use the Multi-Player option, you have to run the MultiList
of competitors, including your competor (friend's car).  On the set up screen
for MultiPlayer it lists:

Name
Number
Description

I assume the "Name" is for the person that you are playing against
I assume the "Number" is the phone number that he is calling from, correct?
What is the Description?

Also, is their any Patches or other files that I need to play MultiPlayer?
I've noticed the Manual leaves alot to be desired when it comes to the
MultiPlayer Option, so any help that you can give is appriciated

Correct.

To be honest I don't know :-) I never mess with that stuff and suggest
that you might want to concentrate on making the connection. Then
fine tuning with that stuff makes sense. The default for N1999 is the
2 modem players are cars #64 and #96 and they are both called
"The_Player". I use the F2 key to keep track of where everyone is
and it is prett easy to spot your opponant. We also bypass qualifing
and practice and just do several 10% races starting from the rear.
You might want to start with the computer strength at around 95%
and use stock setups. You will find the true driver then :-)

All you have to do is make sure you have your modem setup
for DOS properly. If you have a Winmodem that does not have
a DOS mode you may have problems. I ran modem-modem in
both N2 and NR1999 with no problem as long as the modem
can be configured in DOS. You have to know the com port and
have a good idea which modem to pick from the list. I/we also
found that 9600 baud is just fine even with a full field.

If you tell me specifically what parts you get stuck on I can try
to help. And if you are in the 630 area code I would be willing
to give some personal assistance.
