Help with the N2patch!!!!

by ymenar » Sat, 26 Apr 1997 04:00:00

Hi to all my friends,

Like most of us, I downloaded the N2 patch, version 1.00 to 1.02  I did
all what they wanted me to do.  But when I click on patch.exe in my
Nascar2 directory it tells this:

Applying MODIFY file Patch for 'Nascar2.exe'

error ept0036:  Old File not found.  However, a file the same name was
found.  No update done since file contents do not match.

After the patch terminate.
I have minimal installation and the Daytona track(Tally modify).  I have
all new cars and most of the stuff on the Internet (Mirrors,***pit,
Naslap, etc.)  Why doesn't it work??  Do I have to reinstall Nascar2 ???
Thanks a lot,

You probably have a hacked version of the nascar2.exe (like the one that
gave 97 dates or something).  Copy the original version off of the CD (make
sure to change it from a read-only file) and then re-apply the patch.
You'll also need to do the same for the Atlanta.txt file if you've changed
it (40 cars, added the mirror lines, etc.).

It needs to modifiy some of the track DAT files (I think you'll only see
the modifications with Rendition, but it still needs to modify them, even
if you
don't use that version), which are not installed with minimal install.
You'll
to do a maximum installation.

You have modified some of your files and that is causing the
patch problems. Put your original files back in place and then
do patch. After that you can apply your modifications.
7 files in total are changed in the patch.

Not neccesarily. I experienced some confusion over which version I had
and downloaded the wrong one. I experienced the same problem just
described, even after copying the data file from the CD twice. When I
downloaded the other version of the patch the problem was solved.
