Maybe someone can help me.  I was looking on ebay for a Microsoft force
feedback usb wheel and there seems to be two models.  One has red hand grips
and the other is gray. What is the difference in them.
thanks

The red was MFG'd later, most refer to I red ones as Version2's.   I have
both I honestly cant tell much difference, some of my buddies say the red
one was "better"...  heck If I know, factually that is...

I have not read or heard of any "specs" that are different, some thought the
FF was stronger in the red ones??   the Black ones had 2 versions, one with
a game port connector (didn't work at all with XP as far as I know) and the
USB only.  Red are only USB.

I have 4 wheels ATM, Sidewinder NON Force Feedback, Black feedback, a red
Feedback and my G25, all are USB.   I have swapped pedals and stuff at times
long ago on the MS wheels...   I manage to snap a corner off the bottom
right side of the throttle pedal's pad, it did NOT hurt the performance, it
just was the way I had my foot positioned, to press on the throttle that had
to be changed.   then I got me a Logitech g25.  I like this wheel a bunch.
I might be persuaded to part with my black FF usb wheel & or the NON FF
wheel.   contact me, sting32 I have an account at Google mail only if you
become desperate, because I don't know where they are this minute (you
understand I know I  have them in a box somewhere).

FWIW, You do need to know or at least be ware of, that the MS wheel software
will not work completely if you have XP service pack 2 already installed, I
mean the wheel is usable, and I had no problems when Installed the wheel (my
copy of XP is "pre" service pack 2) as I always installed the drivers and
stuff, then installed the service packs, heck I even played with upgrading
to Vista on that same install Hard drive image and the pedals seemed to
work, but many on this group did have troubles getting separate pedals and
profiles to work on PC's that came with XP that had SP 2 already installed
(IE newer version of XP install disks, than I have).  It has been a spell,
and I cannot recall, (maybe Google this group search is in order for you) .

My G25 works flawless in vista and XP (I dual boot).  But yeah they cost
more $$.
Good luck.

Hope this helps

Red is newer.  Functionally, they are the same as far as I know.
