Sorry bout this question but I don't know the proper NG for this. How
the hell do so many people get my e-mail address and then send me tons
of junk mail. And how can I stop this from happening?

Thanks.

(They've already all got mine, and I try to make them sorry everytime
they send me mail... :-) )

Seriously, DO NOT IGNORE spam e-mail. EVERYTIME you get one, send a
copy of the entire e-mail to the postmaster at the originating site.
(If the originating site appears to be owned and operated by the
***head who sent you the mail, send a copy of the mail to the
postmaster at the next upstream site...)

When the postmasters get enough complaints (and the sys-admins get
tired of rebooted servers that have been mail-bombed), the user's
account usually gets revoked.

Bad move. If you feel that you really must follow up spam then send a
copy of the headers ONLY to the postmaster.

99 times out of 100 it is not the postmaster's fault that a user is
abusing his system. Be considerate, he's human like the rest of us and
can just as easily act on the headers as a copy of the whole email.

Also, if the postmaster is that 1 out of 100, you've just found yourself
on spam lists forever - they now know that the address they are sending
to is a real one for an active account.... ;-((

Cheers,
Richard
