I've played F1 on the 3DFX board at a trade computer show, and it's every
bit as good as is reputed to be. It's fast, smooth, extremely highly
detailed and very, very playable. (Though it did slow down occasionally
when there was a lot on the screen - and I mean A LOT.)
I prefer F1 over F1GP2 because I can just 'jump in the car' and drive. In
arcade mode I can race round at ridiculous speeds and barge through large
groups of cars without spinning off and losing the whole race. Realistic -
no, fun - yes!
Also the track modelling is MUCH more realistic than F1GP2 - the tracks
look just like they do on TV. The impression of speed is much better too,
and the camera angles are fantastic.
It may not be as good a sim as F1GP2, but it captures the whole e***ment
and atmosphere of Formula 1 in a way that F1GP can't match.
I can't wait to get hold of my own copy.
