Sorry, I don't have a answer for ya. But, I do second the problem. Indy500
ran like a stuffed pig on my WinXP system. I never found a way around it.
Haven't seen any DOS emulators, either. I'm hoping some will surface in the
near future. The only two suggestions I have is to: 1.) Build a low end
(P-90) box for it (assuming you play other oldies, too). Or, 2.) perhaps set
up multi-boot system. One operating system on each parition.
The sad fact is, WinXP isn't built on DOS...therefore 95% of my older games
are junk. If you find a solution, I'd be interested in hearing about it. :)

Have you tried the compatibility mode? I've not tried it on anything myself
as I've only had XP for a couple of months and not needed to run a DOS-based
proggie yet, so this is at your own risk :-)
Find the .EXE file and right click it, go to Properties.
Go to the Compatibility tab and click the tick box. Choose an operating
system, hit OK and see if it runs! I'm not sure that DOS appears in the
list, it didn't with the file I selected to have a look at the option, but
that may be just the file.
I got hold of a copy of that game recently actually, but I just haven't had
the time to try it out. I think I will tomorrow!
Pat.
First thing I tried I'm afraid.
None of the programmes I've tried it with had been helped by the
compatability
function. I suppose it's just for recacitrant Windows programmes, not legacy
DOS stuff. The best solution might just be a dual boot system with dos 6.22
or something, though I've no idea how I'd get the soundcard to work.
Oh well.

I tried it yesterday - I see what you mean :-) I tried it as is, and then
with compatibility set to Win95 and there was no difference. I didn't try
the DOS Command Prompt in the Start/Accessories menu, that *might* work.
Never mind, I only installed it to see if it was the same game I had on
Amiga a long while ago - it is :-) Shame it won't run properly, I'd like
to see how much better I've got at driving over the years....
And the sound was a bit ridiculous :-)
Pat.
Staying on-topic, how about Indy-500 on W98 or W95 ? I must be honest, I have
got that game somewhere stacked away, and have not tried it for a long time ...
makes me wanne try. As I recall, I guess I tried it once on Win95, without
success - Anybody ?
