I tell you guys its no wonder why more and more sim racers that I have
known
since Hawaii was in its infancy  have decided to hang up their
***-helmets
and walk away .  This newsgroup tells the sad tale at times of people
who are
"over the edge" with a GAME!!!!

Whatever posessed the reaction to Robinson Racing 's website closing
down
(or so its announced ) being plastered on this newsgroup is beyond me .
MLRESHKE has decided to put a broad "lasso" on all of us who enjoy N2
as being "SOB's" ?????  "hackers" ????  .

Sure we should all blow it off and continue on . But you would think
that with the
proposed NASCAR sanctioning of NROS (eventually) that we as Sim Racers
should be concerned with the public relations side of our "sport " .

Do you honestly think Bill France would tolerate this kind of behavior
out of his
drivers at c***te for example ?  No I think not .

Help when asked , respect for your fellow racer , corny as it sounds ask
anyone who
has done it for real and they'll tell you thats what this sport is based
on . TRUST and
RESPECT . Im not saying that we should open the setup vaults and share
and share
alike , but simply acting mature biting your tongue or thoughts until
you can get your
point across in a clear respectable and concise manner .

Realizing that anytime humans are involved in anything then errors can
and WILL
occur , owe up to your mistakes , let a mistake by your fellow racer
slide without
"flaming " him or her to a crisp .  As far as hacking of websites is
concerned , Im not
aware of what exactly was involved in the RR affair but if there was
copyright infingement , then you have legal recourses you can follow .
If someone has invaded your website
through your ISP's FTP domain then either your PW got loose (your fault)
or your ISP
is seriously lacking in security features that another ISP will have in
place .

My point is that if you are upset about RR going down then take it out
on a hanky
or join  rec.therapy.stress  newsgroup dont come on this one
"stereotyping " all N2
enthusiasts as SOB's , morons, etc etc   If you arent interested in N2
or have a beef
DONT go away mad , Just go away

Well if you haven't heard by now or just take the time and effort to sit down
and talk with a frustrated web-masters who are sick and tired of being hacked
or their message boards being plegued by imature little brats,, you would know.
My message last nite was off a spur of frustration, yes it was imature and
disturbing. BUT let me say this the way you made it sound was I was pointing
fingers at the fans of N2. I was not calling the N2 world abunch of hackers,
and so on, I was simply saying that the "Hackers or so on" that were hacking
several sites and distoying message boards were the ones to blame for RR going
down. take alittle more time and read carefully ok. before you go and post my
screen name up  and start rambling on about how I was calling you hackers and
other things. which was really directed to the person or person's involved in
distroying RR practicly. NOT YOU.

So if you have a problem with me or my opinion come to me first.

Later Gambler1,

Whether a site is secure or not does not legitimise the act of hacking it. It may
be clever to hack a site (never having tried it, I don't really know) but causing
malicious damage to a site in this way is an act of wonten vandalism rather similar
to smashing up public telephone boxes and has no beneficial effect except perhaps
to give the perpetrators some kind of perverse, vacarious pleasure. If these latter
are children (and they certainly are acting like them) then their parents ought to
keep better control them - if, as I suspect, they are not, then then should seek
some kind of remedial therapy and leave others to enjoy their harmless pastimes in
peace.
