I purchased the Nascar Hints & Strategy guide a couple of weeks ago.
Just got around to the CD that comes with it. The carsets that are
included don't seem to be accessible through Paintkit. Are they
write-protected or something? I'm only interested in getting one of the
cars from the NFL carset. I don't want the whole set of them. Any
suggestions or explanation would be appreciated.

Ahh... don't forget it's on your CD-ROM drive, hence the files will
be read-only. Copy them to your hard drive and you should be able to
tweak to your heart's content.

Thanks Nick,

Your suggestion wasn't exactly what I needed to do, but it gave me an idea.
It turns out that even when you copy the files to your hard drive, they are
still read-only, so in Windows you must go into "properties" and uncheck
"read-only". It least that's what *I* needed to do. Just thought I'd post
this in case anyone else had this problem.

You must change the file attribute from "read only" to "archive".

Yes, they are write protected, you copied them from a cd-rom right?
Cd-rom's are always write protected. You need to change the file
attributes so it is not "read only". Then it will work.

The stuff is flagged READ ONLY when you copy it off the CDROM.. change the
attributes of the file from read-only and you can edit them with paintkit.
