Thrustmaster T2 or TSW?

Thrustmaster T2 or TSW?

by Crankst » Fri, 17 Nov 1995 04:00:00

Anyone have any preference, having seen both?  I like the fact that
the TSW has shifting buttons on the spokes as well as a shifter, but
the $80 difference in price is a bit steep.

I'm not sure how rugged the T2 would be, being made of plastic.  How
long will the pedals last after slamming on the brakes repeatedly?

Bill.

Once you get you hands on it, you'll see that the $80 extra is well
worth it! It's replaced my T1, and the difference is incredible!

I don't think the TSW will ever break! The T1's pedal springs snap on
a regular basis, but the TSW's are really solid. Go on, you won't
regret it. I don't know what extra the T2 has over the T1, but the TSW
gives you 10 man-hours worth of rock-solid engineering!

I'm a bit biased as I know Trevor Thomas through Compuserve, but I've
not heard any serious gripes about the TSW in SPORTSIMS, CI$'s
equivalent of this newsgroup, where he's got close on 100 very happy
customers!

Could you tell me what the TSW is, I've got a T1...great tech support
but the problem is you gotta keep using it because the springs break
every three months!  Any info appreciated.

Haven't used the TSX but I am happy with my T2.  It is durable even
though it is plastic and you can't beat Thrustmaster's service and
support.  They have replaced several broken joysticks of mine over the
years with no hastle.  They even sent me a free replacement for my 2
year old Thurstmaster game card when I had compatability problems with
a new pentium system.

Crankster,

I just got a new T-2 and so far am very happy with it. I love
the feel of the wheel and the pedals are constructed in a many
that I feel adds strength for the long haul. It was hard for me
to turn down the Circuit City price of $99.99 which makes it
$160.00 less expensive than the TSW. The TSW goes for $215.00
plus $45.00 shipping. I'm not knocking the TSW; if you got the
money then I'd go for it or even the Extreme Competition setup.
Of course some of us have other "trivial" concerns such as a
mortgage, food, and providing for a family which makes the T-2
very attractive.
The only beef I have with the T-2 is those damn clamps which
make it a *** to move out of the way when I'm ready for
keyboard use. I wanted to give it more weight like the Extreme
Comp. so I cut a 3/4 inch, 15 lb slab of steel and contact
adhered it to the bottom of the steering console. Then I glued
a fitted piece of thin *** matting to the bottom of the
steel to make the whole thing scuff and skid proof. At 15 plus
lbs, this baby ain't goin nowhere. When I get finished racing I
just slide the whole unit around to the side of my desk... no
more clamps or suction cups.
I think it all boils down to what you feel is the best setup
for the money and how much you can afford to invest.

                                    later...

Now, if only I can convince the wife that $250 is such a DEAL :-)

Hi all TSW fans!
I will second that statement.
My TSW works like a swiss watch, it is designed to last. I am very happy
with my ex.
The support is great, ask anyone that has bought a TSW from Trev.
TSW is the best, a satisfied customer has spoken.
It is worth the extra $80!

I guess you won't want to know about the excellent Extreme Competition
Controls' "Competitive Driving System" then. At $459 it's just a bit
more than the TSW, which doesn't look nearly as nice. Haven't tried it
myself so I can only comment on its looks vs the ECC CDS which I have.
