here so...
Does anyone know of a way of accessing binary newsgroup on the net?
I really don't want a pay service since I don't want it regularly but would
just like to have access, my regular ISP doesn't carry binary groups.
Cheers.

Generally there isn't a way to get at the binary hierarchies?unless you're
willing to pay :(
Free news servers (http://freenews.maxbaud.net/) generally won't have enough
retention to be useful, and will often disappear off the net once their
admins wake up ;)
www.supernews.com do a 30 day trial, BTW.

Easynews is ten bills a month for 6 gigs.
That's a pretty good deal, and the service is very reliable and fast.

They've been around forever, I don't miss any posts, and I haven't found another
service that's come close in the download/cost department.
"Basic" accounts allow 3 GB a month, and cost $5.95 a month, or $39.95 a year.
They also have 15 GB a month memberships that run from $12.95 a month to $79.95
a year, but I didn't need that much capacity and opted for the smaller setup.

I dropped the Easynews account a few months ago, and have had no problems with
my newsgroup access through the one Newsguy account. If download limits are a
big concern, their $7 / month for 15 GB is a nice deal.
