ETCC2003 Mod installer problem. Help please!

by Andre » Sat, 10 Jan 2004 08:55:14

Hi All,
I downloaded this huge 178MB file the other night which took 9-10 hours on
dialup! When I run it, the installer get's to DoningtonMap.mas and presents
me with a small dialogue box offering to either retry or abort. Retry will
not copy this corrupt file so the only choice is to abort the install. I
have tried everything I can think of to get it to work, with no success. The
installer used is Mindvision's Installer Vise. I have discovered with a
little research that running the installer with the /x switch (ETCC2003.exe
/x) will allow one to choose which files to extract/install from the EXE.
Because the installer will not go further than DoningtonMap.mas, it only
builds the directory structure up to that point. The vehicles, drivers etc
folders do not yet exist. I can of course make these myself, and then
extract all the files I need and place them in the correct folders and all
hopefully will work ok. Not bothered too much about donny, as I can use a
downloaded version I already have of this track. Problem is this, can some
kind person please send me their install.log from a successfull ETCC2003
installation. I will then know exactly where to put all the "missing" files.
A lot of work I know, but I would rather spend 2 hours or so doing that than
another 9-10 hours on dialup downloading something that could be corrupt a
second time. At least once I can confirm it is up and running, I can simply
burn all the ETCC2003 folders/files and all the registry entries to a CD,
and just copy them to the F1C folder if I ever have to re-install etc. So,
if someone can help could you please send your install.log for this mod to:

spam attack on any of my "real" address's).

If anyone here knows a lot about the installer vise system, and can think of
a better way around it I would very much appreciate it. Maybe a maintenence
program of some sort to repair it or something? The problem doing it with
the /x switch is that you DON'T get the directory structure! There are of
course many files named exactly the same, such as each teams team.mas etc,
which have to go to each teams folder or they will get overwritten! Phew, I
hope it's all worth it and it works ok!

Thanks for any help with the install.log, or any advice,

Andrew.
