This happens in GPL if you go into neutral and try to come out without
pressing in the clutch....

Thanks,
Alex (not pez) :)

And it's been doing it for the last three years!  Come 2002 I'll be the 1st
in line to pick up a copy of WSC, but let's contain the enthusiasm.

explain how i can keep my rears spinning in GPL using padle shifters (like
most who dont own the act labs shifter) when using a suub 50% brake bias
(use that in real life and spin) when i hit the brake hard, keep a little
throttle on, and still change down.

its a flaw or an omission in the drivetrain model that allows for some weird
setups and a non realistic driving style.

It's a driving style that has only been around for maybe a year and only
gives you about a tenth or two. The guys that are going very fast using sub
50% as I tried to explain on vroc last night were still very fast (allot
faster then you or me) before people started using 50%, and will be allot
faster then us in WSC and in real life if the were lucky enough to have the
opportunity.

Another Alex that isn't pez ;)

I was trying to use this style and after some practice even managed
to do few quick laps in a row without crashing. However when I've
given up on beating world records and returned to the plain old
technique I was surprised how much later one can brake if he
doesn't keep another foot on the throttle. So my lap times at
the last tracks I tried (Mosport and Watkins Glen) went down
about half a second:)

One more Alex that isn't pez ;)

I really want all of these guys to enter the silverstone search for a star
competition this year.

Now you could say its a little jealousy that i dont drive as quickly as they
do in gpl, but im genuinly interested to see how well they get on in real
race cars.

contact silverstone race school for more info on the scholership available,
i entered last year and with no karting experience got through to the final
round (5 rounds, 4th and 5th are invitation), have had a few days driving
ffords at silverstone since then and 2 races, posting 2 3rd places in qual
and a 5th and a 3rd in race with the 2nd quickest time of the day against a
plethora of karting guys and the winner of the scholership competition.  :)

prize of that competition is a full season racing in the BRDC FFord
championship.  In the competition youll drive on skid pans, youll drive
formula firsts, youll drive caterhams with road tyres on the back and slicks
on the front (toooo much fun!) youll drive peugeot 306 gti 6s and youll
drive 1800FFords.

GPL is a great teaching aid, but i think some people do hold it up to be a
little holier than thou sometimes.

I went to the Skip Barber 3 day racing school last year.  GPL taught me one
thing... how to catch the car from spinning in the rain.  Altough they
specifically told us not to attempt to catch a sping, it's a tough habit to
break.
