ICR: Auto detail keeps coming back...

by Mike You » Tue, 06 Sep 1994 08:51:37

I did something to make ICR angry with me: it keeps changing the detail level
as I drive. Manual detail used to work, and the only irritating thing about it
previously was it would default to lowest detail when I first enter the track.
This was a minor irritant, and a simple press of F6 solves the problem. Now,
it seems to be stuck in Auto Detail. This may not sound like a big problem,
but imagine your youngest continuously playing "Guess who!" with you from the
back seat at 150 mph.

I've messed with the Graphics menu options, turned the auto detail frame rate
down to 10, forced Manual Detail, turned details on and off. Now, I have to
press F6 as I zoom around Vancouver, trying to guess where I am, constantly
distracted by my fluctuating and failing vision. Again, this has not been a
problem in the 8 months or so that I've been racing; it just started happening
today.

Please help me! I've taken to running over my pit crew at high speeds to vent
some frustration (it doesn't help, and they just keep coming back). I've
turned damage off so I can bash into walls to see parts fly (they don't). If I
had a mini-gun, why I'd...

I am not sure what is happening, but the symptoms sound like
it is time for the old re-install. I had some strange bugs
occur a while back - tire smoke never cleared and some
sections of teh track were under yellow (100mph max), others
were normal. I re-installed and never had that trouble again.

Save your setups and replays and car sets, then deltree it...
