Kenny Irwin killed at NHIS practice

Kenny Irwin was killed this morning at NHIS during practice.  He crashed just
yards from where Adam Petty did.  It said on espn.com that his car flipped
over.
This is truly a sad day.  Something needs to be done about this track.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the whole Irwin family.

Odd you should mention that--I thought the same thing.  I have raced at
several tracks that have a bump, patch, or some other odd spot that, if
taken wrong, will send you into a spin or straight into the wall.  Perhaps
there is a spot at Loudon that, under the right conditions, can cause a car
to break loose.  The initial report is Irwin's throttle stuck--they said the
same about Petty's although an inspection of the car found that may not have
been the case.  Something just doesn't seem right here--two deaths in the
same spot is cause for a closer investigation.  At the same time, it could
just be a freak accident.  For the safety of all the drivers, I hope they
find out.

My thoughts are with the Irwin family in the loss of a very talented driver.

I raced at NHIS last July 5 in one of Petty's race programs and noticed that
they had just laid down traction compound. Those cars stuck to the track
really good. I wonder if maybe the car snap-rolled in the transition
maybe..It is a little odd that there seems to be a curse there lately. They
repaved the corners, unless the track has settled since then, i didnt notice
any speed bumps or frost heaves. Oh well, condolences to the Irwin family.
Bout all i can say. Kinda shocking to just see this lately.

There is a bad bump in 3 which drivers have complained about.
