How do you like this passage from the readme file of the GPL demo? :)

     iv.  Tire Temperatures and Pressure

This demo does not include modelling of dynamic tire
temperatures or tire pressure.  In other words, the
tires are always at their optimum temperature and
hot pressure as far as the driving model is
concerned.  The final game will naturally include
complete modelling of dynamic tire parameters.

I like the nonchalance of the usage of "naturally" in particular. :)
What sim could they be thinking of that didn't model tire temps...?

My question is, now that the advertising-driven commercial *** mags
have picked CPR as the ultimate racing sim of all time, what are they
going to do about rating GPL?

Bart,

Last night I actually saw a magazine which reviewed Andretti Racing( Personal
note: How can thay call this Andretti Racing? Never once do you hear from the
announcer
"...and it looks like Andretti is slowing on the Backstretch..." ) and CPR.
Both "games" were given 4 out of 5 stars. Compared to GPL these two don't even
register a blip. I'll bet there are a lot of software designers scratching
there heads this week, between laps that is!

It guess it depends upon what flights, restaurants and hotels Sierra
comp them for...? ;-(

Cheers!

I think it depends on the how these *** magazines did their
scoring.

Just because they gave a driving game a 4 out of 5, doesn't
necessarily mean the reviewer thought the game was a realistic
simulation.  He may have given it a 4 simply because it was fun, and
had nice graphics and good options.

You have to see where the reviewer is coming from, because he may not
be measuring the amount of realism the simulation offers.

Marc.

Well, he, too, was looking for lost time, albeit only tenths of
seconds.

Wasn't he the author of "Le Freins du Mal", or am I thinking of Luca
Baudelaire? ;)
