This is Papyrus answer to my question:

<< ... both Nascar99 and Nascar3 are still in development but there are
no plans to include the 3D-Now! instruction set. The 3D-Now! technology did
not arrive in time to be included with Grand Prix Legends. There are no
plans to develop 3D-Now! patches... >>

Messrs. Sierra/Papyrus,

Will "Nascar99" and "Nascar3" support 3D-Now! instructions?

I' am a fan of your simulations (N1, N2, ICR and ICR2) and I wonder why GPL
doesn't. Are You planning the release of 3D-Now! patches ?

Thank You and Best regards

3D-No! That's always the risk with adopting a relatively new, non-standard
hardware. There may end up being little support for it, even if it is a good
product. I'm just glad that Papyrus continues to support Rendition so well.

There are noplans to develop 3D-Now! patches...

And there is the reason I went with Intel again with my last upgrade.
Unless 3d-now was gonna be a guaranteed, industry wide certainty, I wasn't
interested in it.  Looks like I made a good decision.  Why go with the
underdog to save a few bucks when for just a bit more you can get a sure
thing?

3D-Yes!

I chose 3dNow because:
  a) didn't need to get a new ATX case (I have an AT SS7 motherboard).
  b) It runs faster than Intel in quake2
  c) The chip was 60% of the cost of an Intel.
  d) It isn't Intel :-) (political statement)

Overall the main reason was cost. I wanted a voodooII more than paying
the extra to use a P2.

If what I've heard is correct, GPL uses glide for 3dfx doesn't it?  3dnow
support should be in the next release of glide drivers.  Doesn't this
mean that GPL will take advantage of 3dnow through the new glide drivers?
(at least for 3dfx)

Yes, there is 3Dnow! support in the latest glide drivers, and yes ANY game using
the latest glide drivers will take advantage of 3Dnow!, but you still wont get
anywhere near the performance boost if GPL was coded with 3Dnow in mind...
