Also, Atlanta changed, inverted S/F line, became "D" shaped oval.  Wonder
if they're gonna fix that!

NASCAR Grand National Series Expansion Pack Information

Hi everyone..

Sorry it has been a while since my last post - Like I promised, I have
an update for you on what will be included in the NASCAR Grand
National Series Expansion Pack (GNS).  Please take into consideration
that this is not a complete list - we are still pursuing some more
licenses, so please don't ask about a license if you don't see it
listed below... Chances are that I won't be able to comment.

GNS will include 10 1997 Grand National tracks ,2 fantasy tracks, and
approximately 30 1997 Grand National series cars, teams, and drivers.
A "Season Schedule" widget has been added to the Race Options screen
to allow the player to choose between different race calendars (i.e.
NASCAR Cup and Grand National, and whatever player created calendars
exist).

Here's the list!

Texas Motor Speedway
Californial Motor Speedway
South Boston Speedway
Nazareth Speedway
Nashville Speedway USA
The Milwaukee Mile
Hickory Motor Speedway
Indianapolis Raceway Park (not IMS)
Myrtle Beach Speedway
Gateway International Raceway

... and two fantasy tracks:
Bull Run
Red Rock

Here's a partial list of the drivers that we are including in the GNS
entry list:

#1 H. Sadler    Dewalt
#5 T. Labonte   Bayer
#9 Burton       Track Gear Ford
#10 Parsons     Channellock
#11 Pearson     Outdoor Life - Speedvision
#14 Moise       Pure Silk
#21 Waltrip     Band-Aid
#24 D. Hutto    Unsponsored
#33 Fedewa      Kleenex
#34 McLauglin   Royal Oak Charcoal
#38 E. Sawyer   Barbasol
#43 Setzer      Lance Snacks
#44 B. Labonte  Shell
#47 Pressly     Sunoco
#48 Porter      Unifirst Uniforms
#60 Martin      Winn Dixie
#72 Dillon      Detroit Gasket
#74 LaJoie      FINA
#88 Lepage      HYPE
#96 Reeves      Big A Auto Parts
#99 Allen       Luxaire

Take a look at gamecenter.com on August 18th for an announcement re:
GNS!

Some screenshots should be posted on the Sierra website in the coming
weeks... I will let you all know when they are available.

Happy Racing!

The Season Schedule widget is MOST appreciated... nice work.

I won't ask about the missing tracks. :) But, in case anyone doesn't
want to look it up or doesn't have the 1997 BGN schedule memorized,
the missing tracks are Daytona and Homestead. And adding Vegas and
California will allow play of the full 1997 and 1998 (tentative)
Nascar schedules on official Papyrus tracks at all tracks but Daytona
and Indy (which both are licensed to other companies, of course).

One question -- I gather from this that you won't be revising the
track that is flipping around (Darlington) and the one that is being
squared (Atlanta). Am I right? If so, oh well. :)

Many thanks for the update! I can't wait.

>Sure hope not. <g>  Atlanta's better the way it is now.

Yeah, but you could keep the old Atlanta even if they gave us a new
one. (P.S. I like the old layout better too.)

Stupid question, but I suppose there will be no N1 version of the track
pack? Or a way to convert them back? That way, we Mac users could at least
expect _something_ new from Papyrus ...

Better yet, port NASCAR 2 to Mac 8^)

None of the existing N2 tracks will be modified by the Grand National
Series Expansion Pack.  Patience is a virtue... ;-)

Nope, it can't.

Both are road courses. Red Rock is set in the mountains, Bull Run in
green meadows. Both have lots of elevation changes, wide track areas,
and extreme high speed spots.

Both are also graphically neat and TONS of fun. (Also, not realistic,
but realism wasn't the point, I'm sure.)

What about the difference with horsepower and handling for the Busch
Cars? Will there be a change in the Physics to accomidate the
difference?

This begs the question: is there/will there be an N2 to ICR2 conversion
utility?  I sure would like to run my indycar at Gateway, and
California!
