THE GREAT "GAS OUT"

It's time we did something about the price of gasoline in America!  We
are all sick and
tired of high prices when there are literally millions of gallons in
storage.
Know what I found out?  If there was just ONE day when no one
purchased
any
gasoline, prices would drop drastically.

The so-called oil cartel has decided to slow production by some 2
million barrels
per day to drive up the price.  I have decided to see how many
Americans
we can get
to NOT BUY ANY GASOLINE on one particular day!

Let's have a GAS OUT!  Do not buy any gasoline on APRIL 30, 1999!!!!!
Buy it before, or after the 30th.  Do not buy any gasoline on FRIDAY,
APRIL 30, 1999.

Wanna help?  Send this message to everyone you know.  Ask them to do
the
same.
All we need is a few million to participate in order to make a
difference.

We CAN make a difference!!

I cannot help laughing when I see you complain about your US petrol prices.
I better not tell what we pay in Norway. Compared to our prices you pay
almost nothing.

Jan... correct, however, the percentage of change is what is
important... if your prices were raised at the same percentage as ours,
you'd feel it too... I think it comes down to what you are used to and
what is "normal."

Let's face it, no one likes price increases, no matter what the cost.

Relatively speaking, however, our gas prices *ARE* cheap...

You know, i heard it's not only a result of the Kosovo war (doesn't sound
TOO likely) but that those two refineries in Northern California blew up
(that sounds more like it...)

What matters is how much more you need to pay, not the percentage of
change - 2c per gallon isn't too painful from 1c per gallon despite a
100% increase. In any case, a year ago I was paying 48p/litre for
petrol ($3.67/gallon) and now today I'm paying 69p/litre, some $5.17
per gallon! As you can see we have high prices AND a high rate of
change, and this despite the fact that both Scotland and Norway
produce sizable amounts of crude.

Believe me, people in the U.S. have nothing complain about relative to
most other places in the world (as you mentioned). The only thing we
all have in common is that we're being screwed (to a greater or lesser
extent), but then welcome to the wonders of capitalist economics and
the spirit of a free market.

Cheers!
John
