Just downloaded the Driver demo. I expected very much from this game,
I love Interstate 76 and I thought Driver would be something like
that.

After driving for about one minute, my first thought was 'Is this
all?' I find the graphics from Midtown Madness much more spectacular,
and I found the steering of the car uncontrolable. I really have to
brake untill my car allmost stops before I can make a 90 degree turn.
It feels like I'm driving on ice. I hope this gets better when the
real game support my wheel, cause I really didn't enjoy playing
Driver.

Maybe you just need to play it a little more. I played it for about 5
minutes on a PSX previous to the demo and I was able to throw the car
around without too much trouble. I wish there were some way to
increase the amount of time you get so you can explore a little more.

I've thrown a large big block V8 around before, and that's similar to
how it felt. Lurched, leaned and had a tendency to oversteer when you
had it sideways and gave it a bootfull. I'll be buying the final for
sure. Not that I think the phhysics will be anything but arcadish, but
took me back to my old love. ;)

Cheers,
Rod.

You can edit the file in the Driver/Missions/Script directory with a longer
time limit and also so it doesnt stop after you get away from the cops.
Just use notepad to edit it.  Alternativly you can download the hack file at
www.3dracing.net

Yup, Driver has some of the most delightfully lurid power slides I've tried
since good ol' Screamer2. I actually prefered playing using the chase view
just to see this. BTW, you can toggle between the chase view and an "in car"
view (actually over-the-hood, no dashboard) by pressing the "1" key.

The police AI path-finding is a little strange - they try very hard to stay
directly behind you. If you get a bit of distance (15 - 20 car lengths)
between yourself and the cop, then swerve around a civilian car, the crusier
won't go around it but instead swing back in line behind you, which takes
him directly into the trunk of the civilian.

Can't wait for the real thing...

I love going over a bridge, getting airbourne,  and watching three cop cars
bouncing and swerving in my rear view mirror. It's true that they try to
stay right on your bumper. On the divided highways I like to swerve back and
forth over the median, between lamp posts, into oncoming traffic and see how
many black and whites I take out.  :)
The best place to go is out an island access road that has a bunch of
warehouses in a separate area. Guarenteed place to lose a tail. I hope there
will be on-line cops and robbers with this one.

Thanks for that, worked like a charm.

Playing this Demo has been fun :)  What I would like to see is the
ability to connect many player to this, and have a Drag strip, and a
paved oval, and a dirt oval, and a smash up durby rink.  It would be
great to have to try to go from one end of the map to where the  track
is that you (and everyone else) has to go to to race.  all the way over
there you have to try to avoid the cops.

Going from one end to the other in a set limit of time.  when that time
limit is up, you can not get in to the track but have a chance at making
it to one of the others under the same circumstances.

Just thinking out loud,
Mike

BTW:  Although there are many things that are fun to do with the demo...
weaving through the lamp posts, ect.. I like to find a parking lot with
some kind of a divider and just run round and round.  Gets boring
without competitors ;-)
