HELP for a Good Old Gal????

by Dowbrig » Mon, 01 Dec 1997 04:00:00

Hi. I'm a 44-year old woman who loves computers (have 3) but knows NOTHING
about games, etc. My boyfriend, however, is a race fanatic--watches them all,
knows all the info, etc. -- but i'm talking about the real ones w/real cars.

I thought a great gift for him might be a racing game for our Mac--but despite
surfing for hours now, I still have no idea which to select, or what I need to
buy to run them, etc.

Is there any chance a few of you could think about this, and get back to me?
Remember, I'm great at computer junk, HE IS NOT. Knows very little. Only "game"
he currently plays is Tetris, on the Nintendo thingy. But---I really need help,
because it seems like there are millions of racing games out there---but very
little guidance for one like me who is a zero as far as knowledge. goes.

He's 45; loves cars; has a primo '71 Monte Carlo classic; Goes to Indy for a
few things; attends some other races, I'm not sure which; doesn't race himself,
but loves to watch on tv and read about, etc.

Can you help me? I think Nascar is the only one for Mac...but....What the hell
do I know????? Nuthin! Is there Nascar 2 for Macs yet? Remember, I have Macs,
not PC's. I would also need to know what "accessories" he'd need to be able to
play on Christmas, so I'd be sure to buy them.

Hope to hear from a few of you!

There's also Indycar Racing 2 (now packaged as CART Racing by Sierra) which
includes Mac/Dos/Win95 versions on one cd.  CART Racing is $25 this week at
Compusa.

I also think that there's a Steering wheel for the Mac. Thrustmasters
http://www.racesimcentral.net/ has a T2 for the Mac I think.  But if you
really want to get into the simulation racing, buy a PC.  Just a fact not an
opinion.

I never said that Mac were ***(I was a Mac user for a long time also). I
just say that if you want to do some virtual racing, go get a PC.

With great respect,
May the downforce be with you,

the re-released CART Racing does NOT have the Mac version of ICR II.
Sierra/Papyrus dropped it in favor of the Rendition version.  so, try to find a
copy of ICR II if ya can.
