Test Drive 6 Demo = CRASH

by <ka0.. » Sun, 09 Jan 2000 04:00:00

   I'm running a 300 mhz Pentium 2 with a Voodoo3 vidoe card and
directX7 installed. No problems with a slew of other games. The demo of
Test Drive 6 not only crashes when I attempt to start a race, but it
eventually crashes my Windows98 operating system as well.
Apparantely, the concept of quality control and beta testing is
something foreign to Infogames. Stay away from this one, unless you like
watching scandisc run.

Same prob here with a Banshee and the TD6 demo.  Since then though, I've
noticed that virtually any newer Directx game or demo also fails, as
does the dxdiag D3D test.  Now, I installed DX7 (and now 7a) a while
ago, and didn't notice the failures.  But I haven't been playing much of
late, and maybe all I played were Glide titles.  So, for me, it isn't a
TD6 issue, it's a Voodoo(Banshee)/DX7 issue.  Yes, I have tried the
latest 3dfx and OEM drivers.

You aren't missing anything.  TD6 rots on all platforms
