I finally realized I could hook my home stereo speakers up to GP2 and it's incredible

Hey race fans,
Well, the titles not entirely true, I've been hooking my big (10"
Cerwin Vega)  speakers up to GP2 for awhile now, and it sounds
amazing.
But I could'nt play music while I was playing the game so it got a
little tiring.
So last night I had this revelation: I would snip the cable on my
regular crappy computer speakers, and hook up some medium sized Sony
speakers instead.
So I cut the wires, splice it together. And I get Dead air. Nothing.
Nice move Rae, apparently I also cut some sort of power wire. Oops.
Then I just pulled out an extra home stereo amp that I had and ran the
cables through that, surrounding my chair with these speakers, right
in my face.
It sounds unbelievable!!
When you take a corner a little too sharply, hitting the curb makes
this resonating tone that is difficult to describe. The real bass in
the speakers make the engine noise vibrate and has a physical quality
to it. GP2  (once again) was like a new game to me. It also gave me a
better feel for the car, since I could rely on hearing the gear levels
that much more, so my hotlaps got quicker.
To any of you out there that are still playing with the little stock
speakers, do yourself a favor, go out to Radio Shack and pick up the
$3 cable adapter and run it through your home system. You will not be
let down.
Btw, ICR2 and N2 sounds just as incredible, no surprise there.

See ya

I also came up with the same solution.  I am lucky enough to have an older
Parasound pre-amp and amp lying around and a pair of BOSE 301s not in
use......result.....oh my!!!!!

N2 and CD music at the same time.  The bad part is that I've been sitting
of on all of this hardware for months and didn't until recently think
about putting it all together.

[snip]

When you get an adapter make sure it is STEREO, the one I got is mono (left
channel through both speakers.) Making your own is pretty easy too if you pick
up the needed plugs.

I agree that most computer speakers are crap, even the more expensive ones. You
wouldn't buy a computer at a stereo shop, so don't buy your speakers at a
computer shop. Personally, I use a good pair of over-the-ear headphones so I
can play at night without worrying about keeping anyone else awake.

Then you should try N2 on a good house stereo, full surround sound, 12"
subwoofer, cranked up in a 8'x10' room. Your whole body rumbles with the
car. Another step closer to "just like being there"  :-)

I have Altec Lansing speakers with subwoofer and their the best that you
can have on the market (for the price).  They're packaged on Dell
computers and really perform.  Price range is between 99 and 500$ US.
Really good choice,
