Why does everyone keep saying GP3 is a Beta when the readme.txt file has the
date 13th July 2000 in it?

The last 3 lines of the readme says:

"Formula One", "Formula 1", and "F1", "FIA Formula One World Championship",
(together with
their foreign translations and permutations) are trademarks of the Formula
One group of
companies.d >??q Z5.j????1Y?????T????????????T??T?TTTY????a??B

dur well i don't know..., maybe cos the readme is a txt file and the exe
says it's not 1.0 when you run it through a hexscan?

I hope you're not a lawyer. ;)

I haven't got the game (already paid for my copy and waiting for it to be
shipped) but a date on a readme file does not constitute a smoking gun.

It could be the final version of the readme! but beta code.

It could have been changed by a warez kiddie so that their kiddie mates
wouldn't question it being final.

The only way to know whether it's the final code is when the final code
becomes commercially availiable.

So what does it say? You seem to be unwilling to say. Does it say 1.00 as
Jan Loebzien reckoned half a page up the board? 1.00 sounds like a final
version to me. Also the timing can't be a coincidence either, that a warez
version appears just a few days after the game has shipped.
