I wonder why we don't have access to a steering wheel map-of-the-cicuit
display, as Mika use to use during the race, or as Schumi sometimes uses in
practice. Seems pretty trivial enough to have that as a choice of wheel
display.

I could stick a post-it in the middle of my screen ...

Why don't you have access to it?  Do you not own paper? pens? tape?  Who
or what is preventing you from making a map?  Are you referring to a
particular game?  Are you referring to your own, physical car?  How are
'we' to interpret a post with such vagaries?

Why don't we have access to bananas?  I've seen Montoya eating bananas
before a race.  Seems trivial enough to have that as a pre-race meal.

You should also stick a post-it saying "please refer to the actual sim you
want to talk about when posting to r.a.s." :-/

As he refers to Mika and Schumacher - one might be so bold as to suggest a
Modern F1 sim - none of which actually contain this facility which I have
seen on bother those drivers wheels in the past.

Hmm, I clearly understood what he means, I was just suggesting him that.
There has been F1 games in the past that had maps on the steering wheel,
that's why :)

I think some arcade-style racing games had something like it, like the
Andretti sim and the latest Eidos game with a map*** in thin air
showing all the cars' on track locations. But that's overdoing it.

As for the sim I'm talking about, well I plainly forgot to mention in the
header that I was referring to F1 2002. But at the same time, is there
another F1 sim out there? ;o)

I'm absolutely sure I saw once an F1 game with a map on the steering wheel
for all the tracks.  Can't remember which.

GPL? :)
