RC2000: can't get brakes to work--help!

I have a TM Charger wheel (using the paddles as acceleration and braking).
I've gotten it to work fine with every Papy sim, Viper, SCGT, DTR, even GP500
(which wasn't easy!)--but no matter how I configure it in CONTROL PANEL/GAME
CONTROLLERS I can't get the brakes to work in RC2000.  There are just no
brakes.

I don't know much about X and Y axes, etc.

Can anybody help me out?

I'm not familiar with your controller, but I've experienced the same problem
with my MSFF-wheel, when trying to use 3-axis mode. I think changing from
3-axis to 2-axis controller in the player details screen would solve your
problem.
