CMR 3 should I buy it ???

by Tom » Sat, 05 Jul 2003 19:03:49

Hi all,

I'm not sure about this one. Hearing about CMR4 that doesn't have the
central pivot point.
That distubed me in the demo of CMR3. And the sound was horrible in the
demo.

So how is it ??

I like realism.
Thats why I (still) love GPL.

Opinions ??
THX in advance

Spend your money on F1C instead :)

The demo made a pretty convincing argument for me not to purchase.  Perhaps
on a top-end machine things get really impressive with CMR3, but the
graphics look just as nice on my machine in Rally Torphy, and run about
twice as fast.  The physics are much better in Rally Trophy, and with
several add-on cars available to download, you can even have some WRC fun,
but I still prefer the old loose, slidy, slow period cars in RT.

Do what I do and win a copy in the BBC online competition - then you
won't have to pay for it and feel disappointed.

To go back from CMR2 with all the extras (arcade type races, challenge
races plus "proper" rally championship mode) to either championship or
single stages is a complete disgrace.

The car does pivot around the centre, and the ff on tarmac is
nonexistent.

Having said that, some of the stages look fabulous (particularly the
UK ones), and the distracting effect of a helicopter blowing sand all
around you when climbing a hill on the US stages is excellent.  But
for all that, I still object to having to lose 3gb on my hdd to a game
which is essentially a prettier but far less playable sequel.  And to
cap it all, for Christ's sake, he a) doesn't drive for Ford any more
and b) has a new co-driver!!!

Glad I didn't pay for it.....

(Still enjoy playing it a bit though......)

We agree on this point, actually.  I simply said the RT physics are great,
you can have WRC cars in RT if you want, but I like the classic cars.

Forget it if you want realism.  If you want something fun to drive
that's no better or worse than any other rally title, pick it up.
It's not like we have any realistic rally sims to play or any coming
in the foreseeable future.
