help with PCX files!

by Charlie Schumache » Sun, 10 May 1998 04:00:00

Having problems importing PCX files to my car in N2. I have the latest
version of the program.  Here's what I'm doing: I name my car file
"shoe". I take a downloaded PCX file (let's say "illini.PCX" and copy it
into the N2 directory. I rename it "Xshoe.pcx". I go into the program,
hit the "import" button in paintshop and I get the following message:
"file is not a valid PCX file". I've tried to convert at least 5
different car paint jobs, and I get the same message for all. Am I doing
something wrong?

It seems that you must be. I have imported many .pcx files into Nascar
2 without any problems other than bad color pallettes (my fault). This
is copied from Sierra's Nascar 2 Troubleshooting Guide on their
website:

Question: How do I import a car to NASCAR RACING 2?
Answer:  Just like with exporting, the program looks for PCX files in
the NASCAR 2 directory under filenames that start with X, followed by
the first initial of the driver, underscore, and then the first 5
letters of the last name. The player's car is imported from
"XT_PLAYE.PCX".

Hope this helps.
