Hi Listers,

Does anyone know the mechanism of trapping the odometer signals from
modern vehicles. We would like to integrate GPS and some more devices,
as part Odometer is also one. Can someone point me to the right
direction or give me a hand. Desperately need some help on this front.

If you know of any vendor having such items is also welcome.

Thanks in advance

Ganesh

Most modern vehicles use either an optical or magnetic pickup in the
transmission. They actually "count" the revolutions of a gear and then
transmit that data to the ECU or some other dedicated computer. I believe
the standard protocol for transmitting data in most modern vehicles is SAE
J1850.
