TIR - Wanna buy it unless there's is a deadzone

by Trick Dac » Mon, 11 Nov 2002 02:40:14

Hi All !

I've been reading the messages here for some time.
I've seen TIR in my favo soft-store...
It really LOOKS good...
I know it's arcade (which I don't like 2 b honest) but i'm just curious what
the West Brothers could do graphic-wise

Someone wrote : It has an annoying deadzone.
Is that also true for the MOMO-wheel ?

Is it a put-it-on-the-shelf-after-half-an-hour kinda game ?

Every input is welcome...

Thanx all

You can modify the deadzone in one of the config files. Check out the High
Gear forums for more info.

I've played it, good graphics, the sound is good from the external views but
in the***pit it is very muffled.  The physics are almost none existant. AI
seems to be Ok.  This is just from driving the first two gt cars available.
Haven't driven the lmps yet. FF is screwed right up, you have to turn it off
for the game to work, at least I did, using an old LWFF.

It's in a very large thread so here's the answer.

"If you open CONFIG.CFG in the main game directory, then look for this line
set model_steering_wheel_deadzone_percentage
I think the default value is 0.05 (5%), but set it to 0.0 or 0.01 to get rid
of/reduce the dead zone. (although with no centering force, the car does
tend to drift around a little bit with no deadzone, so just play around with
it)"

Well TIR wont help you.  WR have had no input to TIR.   TIR is by
Razorworks.

Precisely! I thought it was a well known fact that the basics in TIR is what
Empire gained from their encounter with the Wests.
The more I play this 'game' the more I believe there is something pretty
good underlying it. The other cars make some pretty big mistakes and the
handling feels OK to me. Take a beemer or the Lister to Silverstone,
especially in the wet and you're sliding it on the throttle and brake almost
like GPL (there, I've said it, now I get flamed I guerss).

The Wests have confirmed (multiple times) that there isn't a single
piece of code from WSC in TIR, nor did Empire keep any of the car or
track models.  The game was designed from scratch by Razorworks.

Don't get me wrong, I'm curious to try it.  If there were a demo I'd
give it a spin for sure.

Hmm interesting, or maybe that is just a cover up! I think, at the end of
the day, I'm surprised at how this game works, it's a lot better than I
expected so maybe I'm just looking for a reason why.
