Hi,
I am new to this newsgroup and wanted to share some thoughts.
After seeing GrandPrix-II at the store, I simply could not resist
buying it. I know it's almost an old game, but it endured the time test.
Now, after a few days, I am still in love with this superb simulator.
Having this VGA to TV converter enabled me to put the race on T.V.
Awsome Total fun and concentration !
To justify spending too much for a T2 Thrustmaster, I got myself some
oldies like "NASCAR-1" and "Rally" and "***Speed".
To be frank, none came even at the heel of the feeling and quality of GP2.
Rally, by Ubisoft, is a stupid ARCADE simulation and probably just a bit
more interesting than PONG. NASCAR-1 on the other hand, is really FUN.
Plain FUN, and a great video-speed illusion on a big-screen-T.V.
Too bad it won't support a few more video resolutions. But for 14$ it's
certainly worth it. And setting the T2 to work with it was a breeze.
I look forward to try the Nascar-II demo, but heard some frightening
stories about it. PATCHEs anyone ?
Now, ***Speed is one of those early Direct-X WIN95 games. So far from
a racing car that it's losing all of the interest. Personally,
I enjoy hearing the Techno music while playing (with) it. This is
another 10$ experimental buy. Interesting to evaluate the framerates
of Direct-3D on my machine. Duh !
I do have a good Pentium, lotsa RAM, a good video card but NO 3D cards.
All the games I tried worked fine with my GXE64 S3 here and are interesting
for their prices (bargains). So I'll continue to shop for those bargains,
"2+ years old games"
By the way.. When I ENABLE, ALL the graphic features in GP2 and set the
framerate to 15 on my P133 everything is still smooth enough for me :)
* Gp2 rulez :)
* Nascar is lotsa fun !
* And older games (bargains) are worth trying until the market decides
how to support those fancy 3D devices. These days it's a complete mess.
AmazeD.

I hope Microprose is considering a NEW version of GP2 in 1997 or 98.
