I've had many a big accident in GPL, mostly involving totally trashed
cars and spectactular replays, but when you've got shift_r at your
disposal, they're not something I've been thinking about too much.
And then I went for a weeks holiday in Tunisa.
It's a great country, really nice to see sights out of Europe and
overall it was a very enjoyable trip. But there were a few moments that
made me begin to think about the danger levels in 1967 GP races :-)
For a start, there are the taxis. If you're ever in Tunisia, do -not-
get into one.... I thought the fact that many of them were driving cars
like clapped out Puegeot 309's wih broken speedometers was bad enough,
but there was more, er, fun, to come :-)
Burning engines, overtaking 4 cars at once heading down a superfast
tree-lined road straight for an approaching bus, overtaking on the
outside of a bend, overtaking on hard shoulders, driving over rail
crossings depite warning lights and lowering barriers, and leaning out
and looking the wrong way out of the window whilst heading straight for
a wall were just some of the joys I experienced :-)
And the guys simulated in GPL drove at three times the speed and at
places like Spa. But I certainly begun to understand the potential for
accidents after my trip.......
So next time your front wheels end up at Stavelot after an accident at
Masta, take a minute to think about it before you hit Shift and R.
Oh yeah, and the plane we were on almost tipped over in high winds on
landing at Gatwick, but that's another story <G>
Cheers!
